Peter Funch and Project Pressure at Unseen, 2018. 21.9 – 23.9.2018

UNSEEN Amsterdam returns for its seventh edition at Westergasfabriek from the 21st to the 23rd of September. USEEN Amsterdamm apsires to provide novel and diverse approaches to engage with photography. The event does this through combining a programme of various kinds. Project Pressure is a ongoing project documenting the world’s vanishing glaciers, collaborating with world-renowed artists to create work that inspire action and participation through the medium of photography. Project Pressure will be shown at the On Site Projects venue. UNSEEN have put together a serie of interviews with the people behind the project.

42nd and Vanderbilt

The group exhibition [Space] Street. Life. Photography. Seven Decades of Street Photography at the House of Photography, Deichtorhallen Hamburg, encompasses some 50 photographers with around 350 works that will be shown during the Triennial of Photography in Hamburg under the theme Breaking Point/Space between 8th of June and 21st of October 2018. In a direct and lively dialogue, contemporary photographers will encounter icons of photographic history. Masters of street photography such as Diane Arbus, Robert Frank, Lee Friedlander, William Klein, and Martin Parr will be presented alongside young international artists such as Maciej Dakowicz, Mohamed Bourouissa, Peter Funch, Ahn Jun, Doug Rickard, and Harri Pälviranta. The exhibition will be divided into seven thematic groups: Street Life, Crashes, Public Transfer, Urban Space, Lines and Signs, and Anonymity and Alienation.

Big Art at Kunsthal Charlottenborg, 21.9.2018 – 13.1.2019 2019

The show BIG ART transforms the 1,000m2 south wing of Kunsthal Charlottenborg into a series of architectural settings where visitors can explore BIG’s creative collaborations with a range of some of the most acclaimed contemporary artists working today: A Kassen, Victor Ash, Douglas Coupland, Es Devlin, Shepard Fairey, Peter Funch, Julie Edel Hardenberg, Jeppe Hein, HuskMitNavn, John Kørner, Benoit Maire, Tomás Saraceno, Kaspar Astrup Schröder, Snarkitecture, SUPERFLEX, Martin de Thurah, Lars von Trier, Andrew Zuckerman, Ai Weiwei. Opening 20th of September 2018 at 18:00.

Paris Photo @ the Grand Palais with V1 Gallery, booth C38, 8 – 11 November

V1 Gallery will be showing new works from the serie The Imperfect Atlas along with works from 42nd & Vanderbilt. The work Matt Transit from the serie Babel Tales will shown by the entrance of the fair’s VIP Lounge. The work measures 200 x 600 cm and is the largest print done so far in history and has been produces in a special collaborative project with Recom Art. A new limited edition catalogue, with an introduction by Sabrina Tamar, will be available along with the new edition of 42nd & Vanderbilt. There will be a book signing with TBW Books at booth SE27 on Saturday the 10 November at 1-2pm and with the V1 Gallery, booth C38, at 2 – 4pm. There will also be an artist talk with Peter Funch on Sunday 11 November at 3 – 3.45 pm.
